WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE JEFFERSON COUNTY SPCA:
The SPCA of Jefferson County is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent and loving homes for homeless pets; providing them with a healthy environment; and promoting the humane treatment of animals through responsible pet ownership.
It is the ONLY *no-kill* facility in this area.
The JC SPCA is the ONLY shelter in the county to accept both strays and previously owned dogs, cats and other critters of all types.
There is a modest re-homing fee upon adoption.
The JC SPCA is always looking for animal lovers who would like to volunteer to help socialize and care for our animals.

In 2013, in partnership with Petco, a modern and comfortable adoption center was opened at the store location.
This Petco Adoption Center provides increased exposure for animals seeking new homes.
It allows potential new owners to come in and interact with the pets before making an important decision about whether or not to adopt.
Having a showroom location with pet-loving visitors gives our homeless animals a better chance to find a new family more quickly than ever before.
